THE IRON OF LIBERTY, Kogi State.

The Iron of Liberty is a significant relic of slave trade in the
history of Kogi State.

One of Kogi State's major tourist sites is the Iron of Liberty,
located in a compound housing the Holy Trinity Anglican Church,
Lokoja, and the first primary school in northern Nigeria. Currently,
the Iron of Liberty is preserved in a renovated enclave in the
compound close to the church building. It has two iron poles. In the
encasement are also some preserved stones and the picture of prominent
former slave, Bishop Ajayi Crowther, who was later freed and became a
missionary.
